We have a very simple vision; building and reviving vintage designs that could adapt with the modern fast-changing fashion trends, while maintaining affordability.
It is important to us that we keep our products minimal and vintage (timeless) because we know there are people that value simplicity, just like you and I. And why leather? Because we believe you need a little bit of leather in your closet, simply because it provides a dash of luxe and lasts for years.
OUR PRODUCTS ARE HANDCRAFTED
In a small town called Kota Kinabalu, each and every Jacquezel product is handmade by two 26 year old ladies – Rachel Tan and Chloe Johnny, with no machines at aid. We care about being handmade and we take pride for producing handsewn leather goods. Each of our products are personalized and unique in their own ways.
We use a mixture of full grain, top grain and genuine leathers to create our products. Our leathers are meant to age beautifully with time as they will develop a patina. Patina is the aging of leather; where your leather turns darker over the years. Each of JQZ product will develop its own unique characteristics and no two bags age the same!
BEHIND THE BRAND
Founded by Chloe Moin and Darren Chong in 2014, their aim is to bring real leather goods that are vintage-inspired, minimal, and most importantly, affordable to the market. Chloe has always struggled with handbags that deteriorate easily. As a broke student, she couldn’t afford a decent leather bag with the minimal and vintage design she wants. They’d either cost thousands or made from faux leather. Tired of all the problem they both faced, they decided to start a company. Chloë bought RM50 worth of leather piece and some stitching materials and created a card holder. She posted it up on Instagram, and they were in business! Because of money constraints, Chloe became a self taught leather artisan/designer. Later in 2016, Rachel Tan joined in as a partner.
These trio are deeply passionate about what they do at JQZ.
